Here we have a copy of a true grail in the record collecting world!

We have been collecting and dealing in records for years and this is the first turquoise led zeppelin I we have had the pleasure of.

So it’s nice to see it. And own it briefly before finding it a new home!

So let’s get into it. Here’s what you want to know:

Sleeve-

Condition: VG +

A strong VG+

For its age it’s a good clean copy. Pretty straight overall.

Inevitable laminate lift which always happens in these early laminated sleeves, found mainly on areas of natural creasing from handling etc.

But no nasty damage to laminate.

A small area on spine where there is a little area of lift but otherwise a straight and readable spine.

Clean surfaces as a whole. Some age related marking to be expected but nothing notable to mention.

Artwork and colour is good.

Of course has the original turquoise type, that is the iconic and short lived version that was replaced within a matter of weeks to the more common orange version.

Grey strip to base on front of sleeve.

Has the 'Uptight An' Outasight' information on rear sleeve.

Inner sleeve is a blank white. Has age to it, clean and straight but not the patent numbered original.

Vinyl-

Cond: Good

The record itself is the original plum and orange Atlantic original.

The labels are straight and clean. A little spindle marking but nothing heavy.

Has the ‘superhype music / Jewel Music’ publishing credit

(Apparently Superhype was linked to similar companies at the time with directors Jimmy page and Robert Plant, who looked to have founded Superhype back in 1968 in order to control their own publishing rights)

Later copies are corrected to Warner Bros.

Matrix No’s: are photographed and read-

588171 A/1

588171 B/1

- with uncorrected matrix - the number 8 has NOT been crossed out

The vinyl itself has noticeable surface marks. For the most part they aren’t feelable. But a couple do have a feel on the surface. A fair amount of hairlines with some more prominent marks as seen in photographs.

It’s certainly not a minter. Has been played throughout its time. But it actually plays through well.

Has a slight warp to edge but does not affect play in any way.

The Audio is good overall. Some background noise/ crackling on our system.

A mark on track 2 of side 2 has some more noticeable deterioration in sound quality but plays through fine, just has some crackling and noise through a section and then settles off.

Any of the more prominent surface marks play through without jumping but do have some crackling/ surface noise. A lot of the record plays through nice and clear.

A great opportunity to own a real gem in the vinyl community.

We’ve enjoyed it. We hope you do too.
