4th pressing with odd labels
1963 stereo LP

A superb and very scarce STEREO 4th pressing of The Beatles' debut album.

Like the 3rd pressing before it, the 4th pressing was a very short run, and the stereo copies were pressed in even fewer quantities than the mono.
In addition to the 'normal' 4th pressing label on side 1, this copy has a rare 3rd pressing label, with its '33 1/3' text on the left side, on side 2! The '33 1/3' was a holdover from the black and gold 1st and 2nd pressings, and was soon dropped as soon as the 4th pressings began. So it's probably fair to say that this particular record straddles that short time window in early summer 1963 when the 3rd and 4th pressings were being produced, and some overlapping took place!

As far as I am aware, at the time of listing this is the only STEREO true 4th pressing currently available on eBay UK and possibly elsewhere on other websites too.

SIDE 1: Matrix number YEX 94-1; Mother code 1; Stamper GD
SIDE 2: Matrix number YEX 95-1; Mother code 1; Stamper P
Tax code embossed on side 1 label: MKT
Rim text begins with 'The Parlophone Co. Ltd.''
NO 'Recording first published...' or ' Sold in UK...' text

DISC AURAL: In general, the album plays EXCELLENT PLUS throughout, but with a few isolated and very small clicks on both sides. I stress that these are very small - I'm just being thorough!

Disc VISUAL: VERY GOOD PLUS - weighty vinyl with small scratches on side 1, tracks 2 & 3 visible under normal light. Further surface marks and scratches not affecting playback visible under a strong bright light. (Great condition for an album that's nearly 54 years old!)

SLEEVE: EXCELLENT - thick heavy Ernest J. Day flipback (with large 'stereo' in top right corner) in fabulous condition with just a few minor surface creases mainly round the edges, and some marks and light age-wear to the rear. Spine perfect. 'Photo: Angus McBean' text begins below and between the 'G' and 'S' of 'songs'.

Poly-lined 'Emitex' inner in Excellent condition.

A truly lovely copy!

BIDDERS/BUYERS PLEASE NOTE:

All records are listened to before listing for sale. I base my descriptions on Record Collector's scale which is the UK standard. They are graded primarily on how they SOUND, with visual grading secondary and sleeves graded separately.

All descriptions are as clear, concise and honest as I can make them - for instance, I never describe a record as 'Mint' as all the vinyl I sell has been played and enjoyed! And if a disc is described as scratched, then that's what it is! Please be sure to read the description carefully before bidding or buying. Returns accepted within 14 days if item is not as described.

All records are sent in sturdy mailers with cardboard stiffeners and tape reinforcing. Postage price usually includes a small charge to offset the cost of materials, but I do not make a profit from postage and packing.

I always obtain proof of posting. Thanks.
