Tina Brooks' "True Blue" Blue Note 4041, original mono vinyl LP.

This is the deep-groove, “Van Gelder”-etched, 1960 original mono pressing of Tina Brooks' "True Blue" on the Blue Note Records Inc. 47 West 63rd NYC labels of BLP 4041. "R" next to "Note." “P” or “ear” present in deadwax. Musicians include Brooks, Freddie Hubbard, Duke Jordan, Sam Jones, Art Taylor.

Vinyl ranges from very noise and crackly, to generally quiet; the latter more so than former. Deep Groove on both sides. Side 1 has three feelable scratches; Side 2 has two feelable scratches--both sides have many non-feelable hairline marks. No skips. Side 1 and Side 2 have medium to loud surface noise, but remarkably, as is often the case with 50s to 60s original Blue Note pressings, the crackles are largely overwhelmed by the instruments. All instruments have rich tone, broad frequency range, no distortion and surprising clarity--above the considerable surface noise. Side 2, track 3, piano tizz during solo. A very dynamic and rare recording. The Cover has considerable wear, splits, cracks, minor tears, but the top seam is perfect. Good Gloss and bright color on cover, discoloration on "43 West 61st NY 23" back jacket. See photos.

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters).

I made a mistake in the ad. This disc leans more toward noisy than quiet. Apologies, Ken
