The time has come for me to part with my 50 year old Beatles collection. This collection consists of LP's, 45's, picture sleeves, EP's, 12" singles, picture discs, sealed LP's, test pressings, acetates, promos, box sets, and CD's from the US and the UK. The collection also includes vinyl and CD's from John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Apple artists. There are numerous rarities in this collection. The vast majority of the vinyl is in NM- to NM condition; I tried not to acquire anything with a grade below that, or attempted to upgrade, although a few of the extremely hard to find items I was unable to upgrade and they will have a grade below that. I'm going to start listing this collection slowly, probably listing only one or two items a week in the beginning, on Wednesday nights, gradually increasing the items listed over time. If you are a Beatles collector, be sure to bookmark me as most of the items I'll be listing will surely be of interest. Here we go; a splendid time is guaranteed for all.
Paul McCartney & Wings-"Back To The Egg" picture disc LP, a UK import, Parlophone PCTC 257, pressed in 1979. This is an extremely rare limited edition LP. Depending on which site you look at there were either 100 or, at most, 200 copies of this manufactured to be given away to friends and others for promotional purposes. Matrix numbers (stamped) are: side one:YEX 987-2 with "Nick W" etched, and side 2:YEX 988-4 with "Nick" etched. I tried to get a picture of them but between my camera and my photography skills, I wasn't very successful. Trust me they're there. In addition, although I can't be sure of this, most copies of this have the last matrix number on side two as "1"; this one has the last number as "4", making this rarer still. Vinyl, VISUALLY graded by Goldmine standards, is in NM condition; this appears unplayed although picture discs were never designed to have the same fidelity as a normal LP. This comes in it's die cut sleeve, which is in NM- condition with extremely light wear. This is absolutely authentic, with the proper stamped matrix numbers, the LP lines up with the die cut cover when it is inserted, and the inner sleeve has the small blue strip in one corner. One of Paul's absolutely rarest records, in like new shape.
