PINK FLOYD, The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, Blue Columbia, Mono, SX 6157, 1967

Artist: Pink Floyd

Title : Piper at the Gates of Dawn

Label : Columbia

Catalogue no. : SX 6157

Release Year : 1967

Condition of vinyl : VG, see comments

Matrix nos. : XAX 3419-2 and XAX 3420-1

Seller comments : I've listened to all of this and there is light crackling which is only audible between tracks, during the music I couldn't hear anything untowards, it could even be VG+ but I'm playing safe and saying VG. I have only cleaned this once prior to playing and it hasn't been out of the sleeve for 35+ years so more cleaning might well improve the sound? The laminated Ernest Day cover is very good, there are a couple of creases on the front which I've tried to show in 2 of the pictures and the labels look good too, but please check the many pictures.....

My eyesight isn't great and I have trouble seeing the matrix numbers so may leave them off if I don't feel they are that significant, but if you really need to know then send me a message and I'll get the magnifying glass out!

I am very happy to combine postage if you buy more than one record. The actual cost will depend on weight and value, but you can usually send 3 or 4 records for the same price as one.

The pictures are of the actual item, so please look closely to check the condition.I don't grade the sleeves, the pictures forms that part of the description.

I have tried to be conservative with my grading so there are no surprises at your end, if you need to know anything else, please just ask, thanks. All records are sent in peel and seal cardboard sleeves, and I pack them out with newspaper to stop them moving about in the cardboard sleeve, it seems to work well.

RECORD GRADING SYSTEM

N- The vinyl is virtually flawless, bright and shiny. A very minor, barely visible scuff or two may be permitted, but no scratches. No audible surface noise. No label damage.

VG + Disc plays very well indeed, but may have a little surface noise, sometimes at the beginning and possibly a hairline scratch or two but nothing that is obvious or affects play. Label is clean and unmarked.

VG Some visible surface wear, very minor scratches and scuffs, some surface noise, but minimal impact on the sound quality. Labels may have minor imperfections (small labels or initials, etc.) but otherwise clean.

VG - Average used record. Vinyl will have noticeable scratches or scuffs that cause surface noise (pops, crackles), but do not overpower the music. There will be no skips. Vinyl may appear somewhat dull and grayish. Labels may have small tears, tape marks, larger writing, etc.

GOOD Well-played, dull, grayish vinyl with deeper scratches and wear causing distracting surface noise (hisses, pops, cracks and other nasties). The record will still play through without any skips. Labels may be significantly defaced or damaged.

In answer to a question about mother numbers and stamper codes please note the following:-

side 1, if the matrix number XAX etc. is at 6 o'clock, then at 9 o'clock there is a number 1, and at 3 o'clock there is what I think is an "H"

side 2, if the matrix number XAX etc. is at 6 o'clock, then at 9 o'clock there is a number 1 and at 3 o'clock there is a letter "L"
