The classic 1952 Swedish pressing of Sibelius' Konsert For Violin Och Orkestet Op. 47, featuring soloist Camilla Wicks with the Stockholms Filharmoniker led by Sixten Ehrling. I debated whether or not to grade this VG+ as opposed to VG. I think you could easily make the case for the higher grade, at least for the actual record.
The sleeve is in decent shape, with a few exceptions. There's a tear at the top center of the front, which you can see if you mouse over the photo. The center bottom and, moreso, the center spine have both worn through from the weight of the record over time. At the bottom of the back, there's a little bit of green in the middle that you can see in the photo. There was obviously a little sticker of some kind there at one point, with resulting slight damage. The corners of the sleeve have wear and a little bending, as you'd expect after 65 years. Also, if you magnify the photo of the front, you'll see that someone had written something small in the upper left corner, which has almost faded away with time.
As for the LP itself, the vinyl is glossy and lovely. I believe it could perhaps use a deeper cleaning than I was able to give it. However, that said, the sound is remarkable. There are short periods of surface noise at the start of each side, and both sides have a couple of ticks and pops inherent in such an old record. But really, I found them to be quite minor. The beauty of the recording is not at all diminished. And the performance is truly remarkable.
I am willing to ship anywhere in the world. The record will be in a new paper/poly sleeve, and included with the outer sleeve in a standard 3ml plastic sleeve, then packed in a heavy cardboard LP mailer. If you have other requests, I am open to them.
For shipping, I would suggest you ignore the price shown (generated by ebay), and once I know your preference we can go from there.
Thank you for your interest. This is a wonderful record, and I wish you good luck in the auction!
