This is an original UNITED KINGDOM first pressing of THE MASTERPIECE debut
album FIVE LEAVES LEFT by the GENIUS NICK DRAKE . It is on the ISLAND
label with the ISLAND BLOCK LOGO with the record label that has the Bevelled
edge. This was released back in 1969 in the UK. On the label track 4 DAY IS DONE
and track 5 WAY TO BLUE are matching the track listing on the back of the sleeve.
WAY TO BLUE should have been track 4 and DAY IS DONE should have been track
5 thus ending Side One. This mistake was rectified on later pressings.
I have owned 6 of these over the years and this is the best of them. All the sleeves
have ware to them this is a very delicate sleeve by its nature and was never laminated
so prone to ware everywhere. This is the best one I have had BY FAR. The front has very
slight ware to the edges and corners but has retained its lovely deep shade of green.
Very slight ware to the spine but still nice NICE CONDITION. The back of the LP with that
SUPERB shot of Drake carelessly looking at the running man is in lovely condition.
The inside of the gate fold is OUTSTANDING.The original poly lined inner is here
and in VERY GOOD ++ condition.
The sleeve grades as EXCELLENT MINUS.
Side one the record label is spotless with some light spindle trails. The heavy vinyl
has a lovely luster to it and to the naked eye in normal room light looks to be in
incredible condition. Under a bright spot light there are the very lightest hairlines.
In parts this is a very quiet LP so you will hear ever so slight background noise
and I test played this with a critical ear. But its play is exquisite. There is nothing ,
NOTHING that spoils then enjoyment and this side plays all the way without issue.
Side TWO again a STUNNINGLY beautiful sheen to this record. This has been
seriously well cared for over the last 49 years. A luster like mirror when held up
in the light. Under the spot light there are hairlines from the removal of the inner
sleeve over the years but nothing that affects or interferes with the listeners
enjoyment. This label also has some light spindle marks around the spindle hole
but it is still lovely and bright and clean. The vinyl grades as EXCELLENT MINUS.
These first pressings are so rare these days. And very seldom seen in this
condition.
