Overview

You are bidding on a collection of approximately 5,000 12” LP vinyl records collected by a rock and roll enthusiast throughout the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. The vast majority of the collection consists of rock and roll albums in VG+ condition recorded throughout the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, with a main focus in 60s and 70s rock. The most represented artists being The Rolling Stones (50+ albums) and the Beatles (60+ albums). Approximately 300 artists/bands are represented in the collection, many which are listed below under the “Artists/Bands” section below.

To give you an idea of how much these are worth, in the past few years I have listed on ebay under this username a grand total of 95 records chosen at random from this collection and have grossed $1,136.69 (see my sales history for verification). My biggest sale was a single sealed Van Halen I pulled at random from the collection selling for $100.00. On average I have made $11.97 per record from posting records chose at random from this collection. As there are 5000 records left it is safe to say that whoever buys these will have the potential to make substantial money from this collection.

Buyer Confidence

Since the creation of this username I have sold the above referenced 95 records (in addition to other things) and have NEVER had below a five star rating in any category. I have studied every standard of record grading, with a focus on goldmine, and I have never had a buyer report a misgrade. See my feedback which ranges from “best ebay has to offer” to “A+ seller.”

To bolster buyer confidence even more, I am offering an In Person Openhouse/Viewing of the collection in advance of the auction close where potential buyers may view the collection in person. See the “Open House/Record Viewing” Section below for more details.

The Condition

The records and sleeves range from Fair to Mint/Sealed, with the vast majority of them graded in the VG+ (Very Good +) category, see Goldmine Record Grading Standards. There are numerous factory sealed records scattered throughout the collection. Many of the records have unused posters, pictures, and literature that came with them from the factory. Almost all, if not all, play. In person this collection is stunning, every time you pull a record and think “wow how is a 50+ old record in such good condition”, you pull another even nicer one.

The History of the Collection

My Father grew up in the late sixties early seventies, and throughout his life he collected records. He was a music enthusiast and loved rock and roll. His favorite band was The Rolling Stones. Unfortunately he passed away in 2014, and my sister and I inherited his record collection. Since that time we have safely stored the records.

Throughout the past few years I have posted a total of 95 records from this collection on ebay under this username and have grossed $1,136.69 averaging $11.97 per record, see my history of previous posts for verification of this fact. The way I chose the records I have sold thus far was to go up to the shelf, randomly grab a few albums of the same artist (trying to sell ones we had duplicates for) and create a post of 3 to 12 records. If I pulled an album that happened to be sealed I would post it on its own, which did happen multiples time. See my post of Van Halen Balance Sealed which sold for $100.00, and Elton John Greatest Hits Sealed which sold for $32.00.

I am a full time practicing attorney and my sister is an accomplished private school teacher and neither of us have time to create posts to sell the collection gradually. Therefore, we have decided to sell the entire collection with this post.

The Artists/Bands

The collection consists of 5000 12” LP vinyl records (about 67 linear feet, at 75 records per feet), Seventy-five percent of the collection is in artist name alphabetical order. The vast majority of the collection is rock and roll from the 1960s to the 1990s, with a large focus in the 1960s and 1970s (let’s face it 60s and 70s rock roll is the best!). There is also a limited number of other genres including pop (a lot of Michael Jackson, Elton John, etc.), country, classical, and soundtracks, but well over 90% is rock and roll/classic rock.

If there was a popular rock band in the 60s or 70s, it is almost certainly in this collection, period.

The Most Represented Artists in Collection

The Beatles take first place with well over 60 albums (possibly substantially more, this is a low estimate) many with unused posters and pictures, including a high VG+ White Album w/ Poster and Pictures and high VG+ Abbey Road Original Master Recording, see the pictures.

The Rolling Stones take second place following closely behind the Beatles with well over 50 albums (possibly substantially more), many with original unused posters and pictures.

Other artists substantially represented with multiple albums are: Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Doors, Alice Cooper, Led Zeplin, Metallica, The Beach Boys, CCR, Crosby Stills & Nash, Eric Clapton, Buffalo Springfield, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Aerosmith, The Ramones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Frank Zappa, Queen, Prince, Def Leopard, GNR, U2, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Alanis Morrissette, the list goes on and on……..

The Non-Exhaustive List

Following is a non-exhaustive (if there are any popular rock bands from the 60s or 70s not listed, we apologize as we almost certainly missed said artist’s albums in the collection when making this list) list of artists in the collection complied from a cursory review of the part of the collection in alphabetical order:
