La New Yorker with Hector Lavoe – Mi China Me Boto / Guabacha – SMC Records – Holy Grail Latin / Montuno 45 – Listen!

This is possibly the rarest latin 45 you could hope for and while holy grail seems to be a silly term, I’ve heard of very few of these every available for purchase. This release from ’65 on SMC Records marks the very first appearance of young singer by the name of Hector Perez – more commonly known as Hector Lavoe. I’ve had this record stashed away for close to 6 or 7 years and finally have decided to let it go. How this classic slice of NYC latin history every made it’s way into a storage container in an extremely rural area of Georgia, I’ll never really understand but nonetheless… here is an original copy of La New Yorker featuring Russell Cohen and Hector Lavoe. Vinyl is in solid Strong VG shape with some minor scuffing-marks but plays excellent. There’s a very slight patch of discoloration at lead in on B side but playback is great. B side label has two DJ stickers placed on it. Listen to the soundclips and bid accordingly! No reserve.
