The History of Rock and Roll (Silver Anniversary Edition) - RTI/Drake-Chenault Enterprises, Inc. (Stereo) (US) (1981) ...This auction is for a very special, limited edition Promotional Radio Show program featuring the complete history of Rock and Roll. The 52-hour (53 Record set) is pressed on high-quality virgin vinyl and was manufactured by RTI (Record Technology Inc.). This pressing was released for a short time and limited to a very select group of radio stations only. It's hard to find a song that's not included on this incredible collection of rock and roll music (including over 100 tracks from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan alone).
The History of Rock and Roll billed itself as "modern music's first " when it first aired on February 21, 1969.
In 1975, began the process of updating the documentary. Finding that the 1969 script contained too many inaccuracies and omissions, programmer/DJ/music historian researched, rewrote and rebuilt the program entirely from scratch. The new version dramatically expanded the story with fresh interviews, insightful narration, far more music and a host of innovations—all in a modular format which allowed stations more programming flexibility.
This final Drake-Chenault version was released in the spring of 1981, named the Silver Anniversary Edition of the History of Rock & Roll, so-called as it was about 25 years since the birth of Rock & Roll.
The Records and plain white record sleeve Covers are in excellent (Very Good++ to Mint-) condition. This show was probably only played once and the records look unplayed. There are 52-hours of program with one record per hour (Hour 1 - Side A/B to Hour 52 - Side A/B plus a second disc for Hour 4 which must include a different edit). The virgin vinyl pressings sound great but have a light heat bow from age which should not affect the playing. Also included will be the original shipping box from RTI. Satisfaction Guaranteed. For payment please use Paypal (other payments are no longer accepted due to eBay’s new policy. If that is a problem, please let them know and contact us to work something out).
