SHADOWS FROM NOWHERE / MARIE ... 12-inch, 33rpm DISCO MIX single by BLUE GAS music written, arranged and produced by CELSO VALLI and HUGO VEREKER distribution by DISCOKEY S.r.l. Original Italian 1st pressing on the EYES label (KEY 003), from 1983. We are really happy to be able to offer up an original 1st pressing of this hybrid Italo disco / sweet modern soul / easy glide / electronic masterpiece ;) Features the ambient / balearic melancholy of SHADOWS FROM NOWHERE with downtempo programmed beats / atmospheric synthesizers / shakers / drifting bassline and Bee-Gees influenced falsetto lead vocals (sung in perfect English) rumoured to be by cult Italian disco producer, Celso Valli (?) Sophisticated and hallucinogenic with hip hop tempo undercurrent and ghostly lyrics over a beautifully structured mellow groove that stretches out with synth stabs and drum breakdowns midway. Great for DJs. Booming production. A strangely infectious and blissful last track cum end-of-the-night example of the hedonistic / drug fuelled / electronic sound of the early '80s Italian discotheque scene. The MARIE side is yet another desirable Italo disco tune. More uptempo and twee pop influenced with oddly compulsive Celso Valli production and vocal dub delivery. Top double-sider for the euro disco connoisseur. Obvious crossover appeal for smooth AOR / obscure yacht rock / synth pop / disco not disco lovers too ;) This Italian grail was reissued earlier this month by Archeo Recordings but original copies on the Eyes label are elusive :) Seldom comes up for sale in near unplayed condition, like our copy. Very rare 12" disco mix!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG

Vinyl is closer to M- condition overall with a few hairlines and a couple of faded old pressing marks. Some light surface noises. Booming production sound. Item taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played once for the recording of the soundclip. Small "X" notation in pen beside track title on each side of label (see photo). The original Disco Key custom label card sleeve is in strong VG++ condition overall with light wear. Ring dirt marks. Small archive number in pen to corner of sleeve (front and back) and some ink bleeding marks / dirt marks from storage. Very rare 12" disco mix!!!
